First impression counts!

Reach a wider market

These days it is vital for businesses, small and large, to have a website.

You may need one to communicate your services and products, to reach out to a global consumer market, to attract new businesses, or to simply rival your competitors - but there's no doubt you'll need a site.

As a business owner you can't afford to invest hundreds, let alone thousands, of pounds on a website only to see it fail. I understand your need for quality which enhances your business.

I specialise in:

  • creating and upgrading HTML/CSS websites
  • creating Content Management Sites
  • logo design
  • business card design
  • poster design

In addition, I have also created Flash movies and designed company t-shirt and pens.

I'm always excited about venturing into new areas - however, since I work on my own and give 100% to every project, I will not take work on that require intensive, long-term learning. I'll be honest with you and let you know in our first sitting if a project is beyond my scope.

In return I expect clear understanding between you and I as to the scope of the work and the expected results - and mutual respect earned via our actions.

Got a website already and need some guidance? Get in touch! I'll look at your site and give you my honest and objective opinion, critique and recommendations.

Want a new look and feel? That's my favourite!! Let me know what you're looking for and I'll bring it to life.

I enjoy learning about different companies and industries and find it easy to adapt to my client's business environment.

A little bit about me...

My formal education and experience is in Business and Computing. And after an initial compulsory struggle that is bestowed upon the fate of many Graduates, I have forged a successful and stable career as an Application Consultant (read: a-fancy-name-for-a-web-developer). My long-term ambition is to become a Management Consultant and open up my own Consultancy firm - and use the profit from this to finance charitable project to help the poor and needy, especially in Bangladesh.

I'm a family-man, first and foremost. If you a want a whole team of devoted professionals to create your keyword optimised, #1 ranked website overnight then there are plenty of great certified webmasters available.

However, if you want someone who knows what appeals to the reader and has created successful sites, while juggling the demands of family and life then I'm your webmaster.

When you hire me you'll in fact be hiring two web masters. My natural ability to design search engine friendly pages that excite your readers combined with your knowledge of your market and the communication style preferred by your audience. This will prove to be highly effective.

We'll work together to make your site look professional, trusted and valuable.

Lastly - and most importantly - thank you for visiting my site and considering my web design services.

What is...

Accessibility
Helps people with disablilities - or changing abilities - use the web. Common techniques involove the ability to make texts bigger, use of good colour contrast, using tableless design.
WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) & W3C World Wide Web Consortium)
Big Brothers of the web making sure we're good and following letter of the law. They promote good web standards and practices.
Usability
Deals with how easy it is for you to use a page.
Cross browser compatibility
Does it look the same on other browsers e.g. Firefox, Opera, Camino - and not just Internet Explorer!?
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)
A file which controls the look and feel of a website. Helps separate content and design.
XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language). Phew.
A simple, powerful and well-structured language which every browser understands.
Tableless design
Tables should be used to show data or to place your dinner - and not to layout a website.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication)
A way for delivering regularly changing web content. You get latest information without going to the site or becoming a member.
Blogs (Weblogs) & Micro-blogs
In a cafe sipping tea and chatting with mates == In a website writing my thoughts (blog) which others can read without a cup of tea in sight. Micro-blogs are quick small 'hello, how are you?' chat. Popular 'cafe' places are Twitter, Pownce and Rakawa to name a few.

There's a lot more jargon waiting to be demystified!
